Another example of this (at least at times) was David. He had every reason to be arrogant, but he was humble before Saul, even though he was trying to kill David. He was humble by not letting his followers kill Saul's family after Saul was dead. He was humble by dancing with the poor people in the streets when the ark of God was headed home. Most of the people I respect in this world are humble, so why is it so hard to be humble? Thanks for these thoughts, Greg!

I would hate to think that I chose not to worship the one and only true God.

What a powerful God we have to know that we needed much more then a man to buy back our place with him, we needed his Son. What a great lesson

Very good point about them being made to drink their "god" to prove how useless it was. I hadn't thought of it in that light.

In a way, we do still have to "drink the gold" of our sins today. Jesus removes the ultimate consequence, spiritual death, but he doesn't promise to remove the earthly consequences of our sin. The results of our sin could include humiliation, financial trouble or legal trouble, or even sickness and physical death. All of these things hurt going down, but we can always know that God, through Jesus, is willing to forgive us 100%, if we are truly repentant.

Greg,

Thanks for such a positive perspective on this world in which we live. It is so easy to get discouraged because we listen to all the negative things that come across the airwaves and newspapers and that depresses us. Actually, it scares many of us half to death if we would admit it. If it were not for God's presence, our world would not be as we know it, it would be pure hell.

Keep planting brother!

Dear Greg,
I can't believe that Adam and Eve could even think about ruining a perfect relationship with God!
