Preparing Our Children
“If we don’t shape our children, they will be shaped by outside forces that really don’t care what shape they’re in.” – Dr. Louise Hart
Our children are young and not yet ready to face the world independently. They still require a lot of help and step-by-step coaching, but we’re preparing them one day at a time for the future. We found two wonderfully sensible books to help us on our journey of equipping our children, both spiritually and practically. We hope these resources will help you as well!
Write It on Their Hearts by Chris and Melissa Swain offers a simple yet profound take on raising children through the lens of discipleship. You will never regret the time and effort you put into investing in the spiritual development of your child(ren). We can teach our children many things to help prepare them for life outside of our home, but most important is the love of truth and the incredible blessing and privilege of following Jesus.
Raising Them Ready by Jonathan and Erica Catherman is focused on training our children to effectively navigate the day-to-day, raising them to be confident and capable adults who can do household chores, manage finances, fail graciously, and succeed tenaciously.

P.S. There were people involved in the writing, recording, and publishing of the resources we share, so as we are reminded in 1 Thessalonians 5, we also strive to test everything and hold on to the good.
